[Lowfer] Trying a different antenna configuration...

Nothing special going on, just experimenting with a slug tuned Inductor from an old A.M. radio,
and an Air Variable Cap. configured as an " L " network in each leg of the Windom.
Yes, the short side of the Windom needs more Inductance... I just kept adjusting the components
in each half of the antenna until I obtained the best - signal on Warren, and, band noise on
185.300 KHz... As with any experiment; " can it be repeated ?? " Reception last night showed
1 S-Unit higher than with the coax center pin, and shield clipped together, and ran thru the " L " network..
My overall objective is to see if this gives any more " antenna captured " signal to the radio, and if it
does; I want to find the settings for 2200 meters ( 136.172 KHz ) to see if I can get more signal from
Stefan - DK7FC in Heidelberg, Germany when he is on... I am getting him now, but spotty so, any
increase in signal voltage from the antenna, barring interference, will be an improvement...
Least ways, that's the way I seez it .... hi - hi : It's just an experiment, which I do a lot of; and it's
just for fun... If it works ! then it works. If not; then, oh well, can't say I didn't try something new here...
Take care, and I'll give " EAR " a try with the new configuration to see how it fares...

Hi Andy,
If I'm not mistaken, a Windom is fed off centre, and I'm curious as to how this effects the the tuning of each "half".
Not likely by much, and there would be other variables to consider, but if you have a LCR meter it might be of
interest to measure the inductance of the two loading coils and see how they compare. Anything to do with
antennas always peaks my interest.
