I've had WMS off for two nights while working on another beacon on the bench. Couple of weeks back I repaired lightning damage to main tx and retuned but yard was soaked. Today when I restarted WMS the yard was dried out and antenna current is twice what it has been in the last few months.
I have new beacon ID chips from Steve Eliiot K1EL with improved speed. When I bougth the current ID chip eight years ago, all Steve offered was 0.2 and 0.02 wpm, about qrss 60. Now he offers 0.4 and 0.04,qrss 30, as well. New Id chips are not installed yet but I plan to do so by this fall. With the qrss60 chips a three letter id is prone to drop out due to qsb due to the long period. Hopefully speeding up the ID will make it easier to copy. I also have a two letter ID, AR, which I may try. Comments welcome.
Some progress on Dave WA5WKO's beacon for his lake side home at Greers Ferry Lake near Heber Springs AR . Loop is up, we have all the parts for the tuner and tx. Freq will be either 185302.8 or 189501 hz. Been wanting to try the Ashlock loop but no trees in my back yard.
