Well, sorry to report not much luck tonight.  The static began at S4-S5 
levels around 0300Z (10 PM local), which was OK for seeing MP and some kind 
of faint disturbance at 137.7795, but nothing else.  MP started out being 
audible as well as visible, which is the case whenever signal exceeds the 
residual noise of about S2.5 on my meter.  Over the span of an hour, the 
static crept up to about S6, and as it did, MP gradually began to fade from 
view.

I'll try again tomorrow night.
