137 kHz was busy early last evening with QRSS30 (XNS and MP) and DFCW
(XES). Trans-Atlantic propagation to the F1AFJ grabber was poor so
perhaps that's why XNS and XES went QRT, but MP was in well all night.
VO1NA became visible on 137.777 kHz QRSS30 by 0600Z, though not nearly
as well as the previous night. Locals KB9PWQ, Roland, and NK9M, Bob,
listened on 137 kHz too later in the evening and both copied MP.
LF propagation here has really tailed off compared to Dec-Jan. NDB
marker stations NY, 350 kHz, BC and MOG, 404 kHz, CA were weak at best
as local sunrise approached. So it was surprising to find LLD, 353 kHz,
HI coming in rather well. That station isn't rare here but it's not
common and this morning's signal was one of the best seen in 3 years.
The good conditions to Hawaii on 350 kHz didn't carry over to NPM on
21.4 kHz. It was strong but only about the usual pre-sunrise level, as
was NWC on 19.8 kHz.
Yesterday afternoon the usual TACAMO activity was seen on 22.7 kHz. It
had been appearing around 2300Z for a couple of days but yesterday it
showed up at 2130Z. I missed the RTTY at the start and also the brief
very wideband transmission that shows on the KL7UK grabber.
