Lightning QRN was low last night so expected easy copy of WD2XSH/7 and
WE2XGR/1 on 495 kHz QRSS3. The former was strong as usual but XGR was
weak here, despite good signals to the Ohio grabber at
http://home.windstream.net/ftemple/NE_Ohio_Grabber.html. Signals later
from WD2XSH/12 in Colorado on 495.9 kHz WSPR were unimpressive too. N-S
paths are generally better than E-W but at least a few distant western
DGPS stations were doing well anyway: 287 kHz, MT; 291 kHz, NM; 312 kHz,
NV; and 302 kHz, CA was in there but not quite strong enough to decode.
Conditions on HF were unusual over night. As late as 1 am their local
time, two stations in England were decoding my 5 W dipole signal on 24
MHz WSPR.
