[Lowfer] Field Trip

Recovered enough stamina, at last, to go out to the field for a couple of
hours this evening.

I first made a practice run about 5:30 PM to get a sense of what HF
propagation and LF noise levels might be like tonight, and it looked
encouraging. Very little noise on LF...at that time. I had HiFER NC
aurally and visually with dogbones, RY off and on, and a few ghostly dashes
where MP should be, but I can't claim a full triple play just yet.

After dark, LF noise was a smidgen higher, though not unbearable. I've
copied 2200 m signals through worse--but apparently there just weren't any
signals getting here this time. Nothing at 137. A surprisingly uniform
noise display at 166 (not the usual lumps that Argo produces from static
crashes) but no XES.

At 22 m, NC was visible part of the time, as was RY, and even fainter traces
of MP than the afternoon. Unfortunately, even if I'd had more signal, I
still couldn't have gotten all three on the same screen, as NC had drifted a
little higher in frequency than it was this afternoon. I also tuned up the
band for OH, but no luck so far.

Had I the strength to go back out there later tonight, I might obtain better
results on LF, but that's not in the cards at this time.

John
