I didn't get started listening until an hour after Garry's message came in
last night, but I went out and tried for a triple play like he had the other
day. No go. Just a double, MP and RY. Sometimes they were both audible
simultaneously. With a separation of 30 Hz now, out of 800, I could
distinguish them handily. But no NC! Never saw it once all evening, in
fact.
I did eventually tune up to 13562.02 and caught AZ/NDB in a very loud and
clear QRSS3 "Z," but after that the signal faded some. I could just discern
the characters "AZ" over the next few repetitions, and it was never audible
again thereafter so I didn't catch the CW "NDB" ID at all.
Last night was the first time in nearly three days that I've been out to the
field. Been fighting some bronchitis recently. The humidity out there
makes it hard to breathe unchilled air for much more than half an hour, and
the antibiotic that's helping me gradually get better also makes my skin
about as sensitive to sunlight as Count Dracula. So, it'll probably be a
few more days before I can do anything other than very brief evening
sessions.
* UPDATE: The ionosphere is mighty arbitrary sometimes! After lunch today
I went out to the field and copied NC just fine...but nobody else.
Couldn't stay long enough to really give it a proper try, though--it's
soybean planting season, and too much freshly worked dirt was being blown
around by the wind this afternoon. Had to hastily retreat to a filtered and
air conditioned environment.
