Hi Jay,
That was really exceptional copy you had on SAQ this past April 14! I
have heard
SAQ similar to that 2 or 3 years ago I think on a nice sunny morning in
September around
the same time of day. Just a theory, but I think daytime or morning
reception of VLF
signals in Europe seems better here around the equinox times of year,
March-April
and September-October? Nighttime propagation seems very good also but
there is more
static that time of year compared to December-January. Sometimes early
evening VLF
propagation from Europe seems way down on certain times in
December-January.
You seem to have a good handle on reducing the typical line noise and hum
we
encounter on VLF reception also.

Guess it's all +'s and -'s ... I'm 800 miles closer ... you're closer to
the ocean ... but
unfortunately also closer to the equator (static). Would sure like to hear
SAQ as received in VO1
land!
Still scratching my head over the SAQ transmission 4/14/11 at 9 am local.
Signal strength was well
above anything I'd ever heard from them. Would be nice if they ran more
often for longer periods but
understand not wanting to push their luck with the vintage equipment.
