Thanks for the update on 'moving target' EMP ... your previous reports had him spotted at .560 and
.563 and now .539. Think I may have spotted him about 10 Hz away from your last known frequency
1130 - 1200Z this morning. Unfortunately, the LWCA lowfer chart doesn't have useful info on his
mode(s) of operation but from what I gather it's cw with an ssb identifier. What I'm seeing is about
a 3 second carrier followed by what appear to be spaced out cw IDs for the first minute. This is
followed by what appears to be continuous modulation for the next minute ... and then it repeats the
two minute sequence. So far, using very narrow filters, I've been unable to pull out a callsign ...
but of course I don't know what he's sending (assume EMP) and don't know the ID speed is to get the
cadence down. If this is him, the three second carrier paints a decent line on propagation peaks.
Pity he doesn't try QRSS 3 or 10 - the signal seems stable enough for those modes.
Don't give me any more info to go on ... just let me know if on the right track. Will probably
invest a few more sunrises looking for him if I'm heading in the right direction. The 'moving
target' aspect adds another dimension to the hunt! If you correspond with him, tell him I'd be
willing to buy him a crystal of his choice ;~)
