GXH Thurso in Scotland, UK was a US Navy Communications Station. Tx and
Control located Lybster Hill, Forss and Rx site located at West Murkle. Both
just outside the town of Thurso. The station closed in 1992.
More recently, 55.5 KHz was used in March 2003 for a LF test using a captive
balloon to support a 4,200 foot aerial at Pershore, Worcestershire, UK,
using the callsign GQV.
Looking at Peter's spectrograms at http://www.df3lp.de/ there are no 55.5
KHz transmissions recently, this time so not coming from Europe.

Big sig on 55.5 kHz tonight. See reference to NPG and GXH Scotland ... any
help with an ID would be
appreciated.
