As some probably noted, the carrier switched between mark/space
before/after
NMG New Olreans transmission. CAMSLANT was aware of the FCC ticket but did
not realize that it was New Orleans. As CAMSLANT controls the New Orleans
transmitter, it is unclear (even to them) at present who is causing the
problem.

Hi Dave,
Sounds like you are on top of things if the QRM has been traced to the New
Orleans
Navtex station "G" on the Navtex station list. It sounds plausible since
the dead carrier
is being heard across the country at night and New Orleans is in a central
location.

I did hear the carrier switch from Mark to Space just before the New
Orleans transmission
at 2300UTC or 6PM EST but didn't connect the two. Some folks have reported
hearing
a carrier in the Great Lakes area in the daytime? Perhaps some kind of
coincidence?

I heard the carrier still on at 0430UTC or 1130PM EST Sunday night. I am
surprised at how
steady the carrier is at night with practically no fading that I can
discern here in SC.

This has been an interesting problem to try and guess where the carrier is
coming from.
I will see if I can get any bearings on it using a medium wave receiver
with a good loop
if the signal stays on overnight. Hopefully a tech has been alerted
somewhere that
can find the trouble by Monday!
