I don't know where the S9+ static crashes were coming from overnight.
Still, not a bad way to ring out the old year!

At 10 pm CST, I started out with JJY, HBG, and DCF77 all about the same
level, a little over S9. My first target was LowFER SJ, but I had no luck
there after about an hour. Thought I'd try for EAR, but the LWBC sidebands
were overwhelming. France Inter, Europe 1, and Iceland were each S9+15 to
20. (Who knew there were such things as contemporary psychedelic music and
heavy metal in Icelandic?)

Figured I'd tune down to 136.170 (=800 Hz) to see what there was to see, and
it turned out to be the attached. After such a clear "M0BM" I don't know
where the "U" went. And I don't know why the "C" in DK7FC was never quite
complete, but after while there were plenty of "KEV" around. Between the
two captures shown here, there was one rather strong (dogboned) letter "O"
right on 136.170, but nothing else appeared there the rest of the time I was
watching.

After about 2:30, I wasn't seeing much out of Europe or the UK, so I went
back to looking for SJ. Caught what might have been Sal's signal for a
while, but it was never clear and it faded out by 3 AM, leaving me only a
couple of PLCs. By the time I re-awoke just before 6 AM, the computer had
powered itself down and it was in the upper 30s (F) inside the car as well
as out, and every bone and joint has been complaining since then (which is
why it took so long to stitch the captures together and type this). Still,
it was a pretty rewarding night.

John
