Thanks, Peter.  From what I've read here and on eHam, it appears they do a 
pretty good job on stuff that's stocked domestically.  But I deduce that 
they apparently don't split off backordered items, so the whole order will 
sometimes be held up for ages.

If that's the case, and should I decide to order something from them, I 
imagine the best solution would be to order by phone and see if I can 
thereby avoid including any backordered items along with the remainder that 
I need promptly.
