[Lowfer] Overnight Navtex

Hi Laurence,

It is my understanding that Iqaluit closes for the season in late November and Labrador picks up the NAVTEX weather broadcasts. Once upon a time this may not have true.

VYD69 is familiar - isn't that First Air/Bradley?

I have spent some time in YRB with Polar Shelf. I also flew through there (and points north) many times when I was with DND. That was many years ago however.

>From my viewpoint there's still quite a lot of attenuation on the Polar paths still Graham - the topping up of the Proton figures are still too high for my liking and this may be knocking off Iqaluit off a bit. Navtex used to run +365 up there when I worked at Res Bay/Resolute so surprised if they knocked it off..but hey Im not paying the bills up there!

I monitor NAVTEX on 518 and 490 on a regular basis but I haven't checked last night's log yet.

All the big US and Canadian East Coast stations I copy every night including Bermuda and Puerto Rico. Greenland however, I only see from time to time when it manages to peak through between transmissions from the other BIG East Coast stations. Iqualuit is another that I only see snippets from time to time between the BIG stations but I think Iqualuit is now closed for the season. So far many garbled snippets that I think are Iqualuit but so far not a single positive ID.

I am in the process of improving my receiving setup with an eye on being able to receive many of the LowFER's.
