: If I tune between 433.5 and 434.5 I hear multiple wireless
: thermometers and other devices from miles away. But that is with a high
: gain antenna and a low noise figure preamp.
Now with that, you'd REALLY be surprised. I live in the desert. Most
neighbors are around a 1/4 mile away and farther. I can hear all sorts of
these "QRP" devices on my Yaesu FT-60 with 1/4 wave 70cm whip, many while in
a stucco/metal house and many while in the basement.
I've also monitored with an Icom IC-706MKIIG with a 5dBi vertical in CW and
USB, I figure I am hearing everyhting within line of sight, about 150 square
miles. So much for low power! I even hear them when I'm out in the bush
with NO houses visible!!!!
