>>> John, that's impressive to hear "NA" at your distance. >>>
I'm not sure what the distance is, but I do find it gratifying. Of course,
NA is not as regular a visitor as that multi-kilowatt MP beacon ;) ...just
one appearance all night on the screen, which I snapped at 1:29:37 AM CDT,
just before signal strengths fell off so badly.
I found out the reason for that this afternoon. The ground lug for the coax
shield slipped off. Repaired and went a-listening again about 3:30 PM,
netting HiFer NC and its 60 Hz ghosts that had apparently been exorcised but
returned, then MP (had to turn the sensitivity down--could actually see the
signal in 3 second mode!), and finally SIW with a few gaps from a little bit
of static that showed up. Saw a carrier on WMS's spot, but it was broken up
enough that I wouldn't testify to the ID.
Going back out in a little while to do some more captures of PLCs in 100 Hz
segments of the upper part of 1750m, in preparation for picking my own
operating frequency.
John
