[Lowfer] A coincidental observation here...

Having done about all I can to the antenna itself, I started to
try improving the ground system by installing 2 more ground rods
spaced 8 feet out from the base of the antenna in a triangle
layout, and connected back to the rod underneath the antenna,
as well as connected to each other.
I have the first one driven in to 7 feet, 3 inches. The last foot
of driving took 2 hours, and wore me out. Now here's what I'm
seeing on the RF current meter tonite, after driving the rod into
the ground.... The antenna current usually runs 157 MilliAmps,
but after driving the rod into the ground, it is now reading
162 MilliAmps at 1 watt input.. The rod IS NOT connected to
anything, it is just there.. The majority of this stuff I don't
understand, and I certainly don't see how an un-connected ground
rod could affect the antenna to cause a change in current.
I plan to drive the other rod in tomorrow if I can, and I'll
watch to see if anything changes in the tuning after driving it
in the ground but not connecting it to anything.
Before I do anything else; I'll go out in the mobile, and at a
spot where I know what S-meter reading I should get; I'll see if
the meter reading has any change at all. That small amount of
increase may not even be noticable though. But at least now I can
go out and get signal readings..
Until the next time; 73 all:
