Thank you for your reports Garry: I am; " Surprisingly Relieved "
that I am still on the air. Gale Force winds, and peak gusts
reaching an EF0 level ( lowest Tornado catagory ). We were spared
at our QTH from any heavy damage, just lots of debris, and strewn
yard furniture. My Stepson just finished a quick tack down of a
not yet finished Tin roof over my front porch, working even in the
beginning winds of the storm... I have never saw anything shake,
and rattle like that Tin roof did last night, but it stayed in place.
It remains to be seen how the 10 foot by 10 foot square Tin roof
will affect my lowFER antenna characteristics. It is only about
20 feet to the side of the antenna, and being horizontal, at 10 feet
above the ground, It will have some sort of interaction.
After the main brunt of the storm passed; I turned the beacon back on
and let it run thru the still heavy wind gusts, and torrents of rain.
I am pleased to see that the RF current still does not drop as much
as with the previous antenna when the ground get wet, and last night
it was saturated. I still tend to attribute this to the elevated
loading coil...... 73 all, and hope all is well at your QTH:
