Andy

If your frequency is 185299.31 you might consider changing it ... that's exactly the last know
frequency of SIW. That said, I've got intermittant reception (high static levels) of a carrier at
185298.40 that I don't recall ever seeing before. Signal is beginning to come up nicely as we
approach sunrise. Please advise if your TX is still on and if this might be your actual frequency.

Subject: [Lowfer] " XR " is trying a little RF

Decided to connect the transmitter to the antenna and see what
happened. I had to add 100 MilliHenries of Inductance to get the
output to peak, along with adding some extra shunt capacitance on
the antenna side of the Low Pass filter. I finally have the RF
ammeter up to 115 MilliAmps. Plus it is now raining, and the
output took the usual 20 mAMP drop, so, I think the antenna is
drawing about 135 mAMPS with 1 watt DC Input on the Final.
Using all the previous indicators, The S-meter on the radio is
showing 5dB more reading, don't know if that really means much.
The Field Strength meter is showing at least the same as before,
and possibly just a tiny bit higher. It's hard to tell in needle
widths... hi - hi: My SPECTRAN reading shows me to be transmitting
at 185,299.31 KHz. That's a little higher than before. I may need
to re-seat the chips in their sockets. Again, having never used
an elevated loading coil before, I don't know if what I am seeing
is normal or not. I don't like having to add more Inductance to
the Variometer coil to get it to peak, but most likely normal.
I'll run a carrier for awhile, maybe overnight if the storms stay
away. Probably not a good night to try looking, but thanks to
anyone who does..... 73 for now:
