Gang,

Well after many, many years I took down and rebuilt my 160 meter sloper.
I'd never normally buy a wire antenna but this was so cheap, I bought it at
a hamfest about 20 years ago for $5 (and I bet it was over 10 years old
then). It's a Sultronics Triband 180-80-40M Sloper, it has two loading
coils. Last Thursday I got home from work and found the it lying in the
yard. The antenna wire itself finally corroded to a point where it literally
broke. I had about a 100 feet of copper weld so I rebult the sloper. I used
my antenna analyzer and got the antenna working on all three bands great. I
retuned the 160M segment so it's optimal on the low part of the band.
Last night I ran WSPR on 160M. I ran about 8 watts and I was copied in
New Zealand and Europe http://mysite.verizon.net/wa3usg/160M.jpg
I also took down my AMRAD E-Field probe and replaced the ground wire ...
hopefully by this evening I will also have the remote tuning unit and remote
preamp installed in my big loop that's mounted on my garden shed ... I'm
getting ready for this Winters LF reception.

See you guys!
