[Lowfer] LW Broadcast reception on portables

Hello the list,

  Has anyone anywhere EVER picked up a LW BC station using a portable receiver ?
(If you live in Europe near LW stations you are excused from this discussion!)

I've tried for 30+ years with no success and have concluded that its impossible.
However Colin on www.dxer.ca web page claims he picks up trans-pacific stations with a portable.
