Bill ,
I am sure you will receive a lot of responses .
The antenna issue is easy to address first . A popular antenna is the PA0RDT
, mini whip . An easy to build from scratch antenna . (

There are many receiver options . Do you currently have any other receivers
that cover that range ?
A very informative page , with converters and even a simple SDR receiver
designed for the lowfer range may be found at:

Lots of good information and reading . If you have more questions , this is
the best group of guys that you will find anywhere that will get you up and
running and enjoying listening to all of the 1750 meter lowfer activity and
QRSS , plus many other modes on 2200 meters .
Also you can get plenty of information here for 600 meters , NAVTEX , and
just about any mode to transmit and or receive below 2 MHz.
Feel free to contact me directly , if I can be of any help .
However there is certainly more brain power on this list in this area ,
collectively , than I can supply you with .
I just have a lot of free time , when I am not building :)
