Thanks Chris.  I recently built a RDT e-probe and have been comparing it 
to other antennas.  So far the mini-whip's performance on LF has not 
been as good as my LF xmit antenna or a random length triangular loop in 
the woods about 400 feet from the shack.  That's kind of what I expected 
though considering the mini-whip's location.  I have it on 30 feet of 
mast beside the house.  It is about 20 feet from a 100 foot tower and 
about the same distance from the nearest trees.  Trees are a combination 
of pine and primarily oak that are in the 70+ foot tall range.  I know 
the mini-whip needs to be above nearby objects but that will be 
difficult in my situation.  I have considered mounting it out the top of 
the tower, out the top of a suitable nearby tree or a tree some distance 
from the house.  The tower takes lightning hits regularly per my nearest 
neighbor who has a good view of the copper 6 meter J-pole I have out the 
top.  The J-pole hasn't been used in years but it's working well as a 
lightning rod.  I know the mini-whip wont last long mounted on the tower 
and considering the effort to put it up I doubt that I will.
