Oh Pish
the test is a bitch and while someone can memorize everything and pass it
if you study and learn and then take it you have some back ground. I
failed
2X attempting to take it cold and finally sat in on a refresher class
the problem being that most of the sections you need to pass dealt
with esoteric krap,, " what is the frequency for white level in SSTV "
didnt know didnt want to know but you need to know it to pass
passed 13 WPM for the advanced and did the extra to be a better
VE ,,,,
I agree with Warren that 40 can be a big issue for those up north and
close
to the coast ,, the foreign broadcasts are a much bigger issue in
different
locations
FYI
I ran a local club net at 3838 and usually am able to find that frequency
clear
the only problem is something that sends a P and sounds like the keyer is
broken
as the P will turn into a W-T anyone know what this may be,, there is
something
that sounds like ritty associated with it as well.. could be the reason I
can find that spot
free,, good signals from the locals and ex locals in Ga and NC,, Issues
going west of the Mississippi
and at times parts of the east coast
pick a frequency and I will be there,, going under 3800 is a good idea
but it would keep some
good Lofers from joining in
