I paralleled three 50 ft wires as a sloper ant. One wire had 109pf cap to ground , three wires have 220pf to ground -measured. I must check loading coil to verify the inductance at resonance. Two of the wires are twisted , tomorrow or friday I will make a set of spreaders and retest.Antenna runs from the eaves of my workshop to my ham tower about 7.5 ft to 20 ft,
Bill Ashlock wrote in an email that a wire in space has about 8 pf/meter or 2.7 pf/ft Looks close.
I wanted to evaluate a simple antenna . My back yard has no trees so this is the best compromise for a wire antenna. With the extra cap my loading coil now resonates without any additional cap. While this does not change the current distribution like a cap hat, it does reduce the inductance required to resonate which should make it more efficent.
Second beacon is on 185.305khz, I willl keep it on for a couple of days to see if I can hit Ralphs grabber.
comments welcome,
