Let me first say a HUGE THANK YOU , to everyone that participated in the first session of our new group / net .
I was AMAZED at the level of participation . In my humble opinion this worked out well and we all got better acquainted.
We had a total of 10 people , including myself and we probably missed out on a couple of people because we had to make a frequency change to adjust to the best conditions for everyone .
We ended up at 7.265 MHz. It was reasonably quiet from QRM . I think everyone heard everyone else to some degree .
I was not on my best antenna and my 40 meter antenna is not oriented correctly for most of the stations that were on . By next week , I hope to have a better antenna in use and better oriented to cover all of the stations .
We had Andy , from Minnesota on there with 20 watts and everyone copied him , I believe .
So I propose making this a weekly event , on 7.265 MHz. on Monday evenings at 8 pm EDST .
The bulk of the net lasted about one hour and included beacon operators , 2200 meter , 1750 meter and 600 meter operators , as well as a couple of people that have not been able to get their beacons on and Ralph was on and filled everyone in on his transmitter status and also his grabbers .
It was a real thrill for me to just talk to the people that I see here on the list and that I listen to their beacons . Dex was the only person that I had ever actually talked to before .
So like so many of us , dust off those microphones and join us on 40 phone . Many of us have not done phone operation on 40 in years .
THANKS guys it was a blast and I am looking forward to next week .
If you have ANY comments , suggestions , etc . please post them to the LowFER group . I am posting this on the part15 group also.
Now to do a little work on my transverter .
Best 73 ,
Charlie , W5COV
