Any freq you guys pick is ok with me. Been watching one eyed monster and missed notification today.

I've been playing with a 50 ft sloper and borrowed MFJ analyser and some other test equipment. With insulated wire I can get a cap measurement on the sloper, on an AADE l/c meter. Wouldnt' work today on tower with high winds, I think friction creates error voltage. MFJ only goes down to 1.7mhz cap reading a little bit high. Resonance best checked with signal gen and homemade impedance bridge. Also have qrp wattmeter built from RS swr bridge pick up and 50 ua meter.

One other mod for solderless lowfer tx project. To key mine
I remove the k1el chip. I think I will install NC pushbutton switch in the keying line so I can manually ket tx rather than wait for ID. for cw keying a pnp switch or nc relay could be added.

Last year Andy , Bill Bowers and I kept our beacons on all summer, I was rewarded with reports and captures in all months of the years, so there is propagation in the months with no r's. I have been doing well daytime into Ralphs grabber at 225 miles. Wish I had some locals to check out possibility of daytime cw contacts, I think lowfer would be great for local nets.

Remind me of the lowband phone nets, I may be out of town next weekend but could be back for sunday evening qso.

Heavy rain here as I wirte this, no snow predicted for us. Temp in low 70's today supposed to be in 40's tomorrow.

  Hi Guys ,

Eric and I just had a nice QSO on 40 meters .

Now that the bands are becoming more normal and predictable how about we have a Net or old fashioned roundtable on an HF frequency at least once a week and perhaps even just a regular frequency to listen to just in case a few of us want to chat ?

Please do a "reply all" if you are interested and a suggested time , day and frequency . Also you can see everyone that I am sending this email to , so if you know of anyone else that would be interested , please add them to the list .

It gives us time on the radio and away from the keyboard and we can keep up with what everyone has going on .

We need to do this especially with this part of the season slowly going downhill , we need to keep up with everyone during the summer months . Maybe even people that hear us on the air will take an interest in what we are doing and join us .

Best 73 , with 10 inches of snow already on the ground in NE OK .

  Charlie , W5COV
