As Andy mentioned in his earlier post we are both at nearly identical points on our transverter construction .
We each used a different approach for building our transverters . Mine uses a 10 MHz. IF and is a homebrew design using a 10 MHz. oscillator and a mini circuits mixer , into a buffer and then a linear amp stage , with 1 watt input .
I have an old Yaesu FT-100D , that the finals are blown in , that I will be using for the IF rig .
WSPR is just the first of many modes that we plan on trying on 1750 meters.
Having spent many hours listening to WSPR on 600 meters and listened to it on 2200 meters , the results have not been fantastic , but still satisfactory for testing a new mode . You never know without trying .
I agree 100% that it is surely not the best DX mode and it does have some issues . The one feature that I like about it is that it "takes a break" to receive .
We are just trying to encourage more people to use different modes and to let people have a chance to listen to something other than QRSS CW .
I am sure WOLF and other modes will be in our plans for the fall season . We will probably spend most of the rest of this season working out the "bugs" in our respective designs .
We like to build , so this has been keeping us out of trouble :) We will be happy to listen to any suggestions on things to build and try .
It seems like there is not anywhere near the level of building and experimenting with different modes as there was several years ago .
So with Andy , Paul and I working on different and new projects , we hope to raise the level of awareness and activity for Part 15 .
ANY suggestions welcome .
