[Lowfer] A stranger to 80 meters showed up tonight...

Hey Mike:

I looked at the spots this morning and saw that you had received
me there. I wasn't sure that my antenna was still working as it
should. I had one leg of the 160 windom, and 80 dipole tied
together on each side of the coax, and when the long leg of the
windom came down; it looked like the 80 dipole leg came loose too.
It must still be connected though. The SWR is what it should be,
and I was decoded at a little over 7800 miles om 5 watts in
the " OK " call zone. I will be glad when I can get the windom
back up and get back on 160 meters. I would be thrilled to get
across the big pond on 160.

I didn't think too much of WSPR at first, I thought it was maybe
being puffed up, and over rated somewhat, I suppose that's the
problem with pre-conceived ideas with out experience. Now that I
have used the mode some, and studied on how it works; I have to
admit that WSPR is a darned good mode for weak signal, and with
the inclusion of the QSO mode now, confirmable contacts are possible
that would not happen in other modes. In my still un-experienced
opinion; as cycle 24 continues to rise, and the low bands slowly
start to die to DX, SSB DX is gone, CW DX is few and far between,
WSPR can still be churning out contacts in its QSO mode.

I do hope to get something put together, and put WSPR on 1750 Mtrs.
running Part-15. I'm not sure, but I think it will beat QRSS-30,
and maybe match QRSS-60, or at least come very close.
