Mike,

I saw a HRO that used the rack plug-in coils at a local ham's house when I was 
kid.  He actually let me tune in some stations with it.  That was a long time 
ago but I can't imagine the capacitor unit I have as being part of that receiver.

I viewed lots of pictures on the net of HRO receivers over the last few days and 
have yet to see anything like this unit.  Of course there aren't many pictures 
of the real old receivers showing the insides.

I'll post to a few more groups and let you know if I get any details.
