Dex - excellent stuff - Im an any mode man, but WSPR suits my style of being able to listen or not whilst the station is manned or.. not. Just they way of my lifestyle at the moment, but dang it Ive had great fun listening to all the various CW and other modes this week. I havent heard 500 like that since I was a sea and coast station RO back in the 70/80's.
The remote Alaska receiver is running +24 on 502.4+ WSPR as Im a little bit preoccupied here looking for something to live in. Conditions though fair havent been really good in my view up there for some time. It has to be "special" to be "good" at that geo latitude.
WSPR on MF has been a load of "fun" - I set up the rx in China and AK on 502.4 and nabbed SM6BHZ, sometimes at 1W ERP a number of times at both locations on what must be described as a minimalistic antennae approach.
Ive just been watching /12 fade out post dawn here, and although the signal level is s/n and not true signal all things being equal it does give some idea of variability in the iono. /17/37 are towards the limits of reception here (-26/>30) but /12 in CO is strong of course.
I may change hotel rooms today to get another view of the sky. Ive not seen anything from Eu here at present and it would have to be a "good" day for that to happen given the location and my s/n, and again like Jay based on my remote receptions I dont things have been as hot over the past weeks, though 137Khz was pretty good from Okie to Eu last night.
Ill be on a noise reduction quest today by reverting to a battery driven source for the PA0RDT; presently got some unwanted pulse noise RF coming across the AC/SDC power supply which I cant choke off and is probably a noise path I cant break with the present system. Off to buy a sealed lead acid from somewhere, it really does improve things. Also local NDBs here around 510/12/15 or so are pretty strong and dont help.
