It's only 20 inches diameter Andy.  The narrow fat coil is one I built in the 
60s, before sets had built in degaussing coils.  I also have one removed from a 
27" TV but it's resonant freq is about 10 KHz.

How are you measuring the coil winding capacitance?  The only way I know to do 
that is the test the coil's self resonance.  You can't determine the coil 
winding capacitance unless you have some sort of fancy C meter I'm not aware of.

Lots of trees around here Andy.  I do have a seven acre open field between the 
front of the house and the road.  Can't use it for antennas though as it is 
actively cultivated.  The rest of the property is about 10 acres of mainly oak 
and hickory.  That's the reason I mainly use loops for receive.
