[Lowfer] W5JGV E-Probe antenna

Ralph how abourt a 300khz lowpass filter between the antenna and the rx
inside. If your 500khz tx is overloading the antenna itself that might not
work . A buddy of mine built a bandpass filter for 185khz with a couple of
455if cans. He claimed it improved his reception.

My observations with argo is that the software is desensed, like lightning
for example.My lowfer beacon is
160ft from my rec antennas. At 187.5 khz I got some desense from my beacon
receiving WEB at 189.95khz. to copy the watering hole I would set my rec to
186khz and lower sideband and I got a few copies of CV and XR with my beacon
on. Since I have moved to the watering hole at 185.3 I could copy WEB at
189.95 with no desense. I also have noted on 137 my SDR, an Elector, was
immune to desense from lightning. It copied the 137 guys well but not so
good at 189.95. It needs a little more gain. I used a commercial Low pass
filter ahead of the SDR.with out the lowpass there is a lot of hash and
birdies from BC.

While the grabber is somewhat broken up by the 500khz it still provides
usefull data about the propagation between us.

I could loan you my LPF if you like. Its about the size of a hand held HT
with bnc connectors all soldered up in a metal box. A friend of mine
salvaged it from some kind of test equipment.Might be worth a try.
