[Lowfer] Ryco 6040 as a receiver

My Rycom was made to use AC just for charging the battery.  It produces hum 
when run on AC.  OK when using the battery.  I have an outboard battery as 
the internal one is bad.  The unit was made to use on DC but charged on AC. 
The proper battery cost anywhere from $50 to $100 as found on the internet. 
Maybe I would have no hum when running on AC with a good battery installed.
