Try it.

I suspect there will not be much isolation from the home noises.
The noise sources are not entirely enveloped by the steel roof material.
So, the very long wavelength noises will leak around the edges into the 
antenna.

Of course, over the years, the spectral signature of the home noises
may have  significantly changed, to the better or the worse.

Try it.
