Given the short duration of the frequency steps, you probably would have
to look at a QRSS3-type screen. I don't think you'd see anything useful
on a 30 second screen. And yes, don't expect QRSS30 weak signal
response. The mode doesn't appear to fare as well as you might hope with
static crashes, AC-related buzz and nearby steady carriers. Hmmm...can
you spell "LF"?

Hi John,
You are right, it is not very useful to try to look at WSPR on a QRSS
screen
at much over QRSS3 from what I remember over the winter. At QRSS10
and longer the freq shifting carrier seems to get lost in the time buildup
on the screen. It probably tends to be neglected more as random noise at
the much
slower speeds.

Also WSPR does seem to be a bit more subject to degradation from static
crashes,
line noise, buzz and nearby carriers. It does do well on MF/HF on a
fairly
clear frequency free of static and nearby QRM. Its great advantage is to
just let it
run continuously for automatic printed decodes at the receiver end and it
is
fairly narrow band compared to other modes.
