Try something dang it !!! If it blows up, try something else...
I suppose that's what experimenting is all about. I am running WSPR
and have been for over an hour now on a 1 watt audio amp. And it's
drawing 85 MilliAmps of RF current. My rough guesstimate would be
that's about .2 watts into the antenna. ON an audio amp to beat it
all !!! It is getting a little warm, but considering the output
impedance is 8 Ohms, and I have no idea what the impedance of the
antenna is. I played around with some capacitors until I got it
as high as I can get it to go. I'm still surprised that it is
actually putting out a signal.
I know there are T-Storms all around; but if anyone is game to
try to decode it; set your dial to 184.000 - USB, and forgive
the drifting around, but the signal will be very close to the
middle of the window. It's still holding rock solid at 85 mAmps.
I'm going to let it run all night, it's all up to how tough the
audio amp is, it may blow out, BUT !!! I can get a signal on the
air, so onward I go; ( I hope ).......
