Li-On batteries and smart chargers...
I always put my phone and GPS on their chargers whenever I don't use
them. I have never had a Li-Po battery fail. The XYL charges her phones
when they go dead. She goes through batteries every year. She has a
Sandisk which I make sure gets left on the USB port when ever she is not
using it. My son lets his PSP sit off the charger until he decides to
charge it. Guess what? I have put 3 batteries in that thing in the past
three years. I think Li-Po batteries like to be topped off and left on
their smart chargers.

But, yes, I've noticed those light-weights now that come with digicams and small music players, for battery recharging. Not heard mention before of said flaws and will monitor my few for such surprises.

Is it like the Ni-Cds where constant charging can be detrimental, so leave tham run down before an overnight plug-in? The SanDisk instructions made no mention, only how to replace the 3.6V battery.
