Well. after cleaning up the mess, and re-constructing the power supply input
to the transverter, I was happy to find that the only damage was to the filter
caps. The transverter still works. I have also finally determined that the output
from the transverter was overloading the 1 watt PA. The VK5BR transverter is
designed to drive a high powered PA, needing Volts P tp P, where the 1 watt
PA for the 1750 meter transmitter PA needs only Millivolts P to P....
So I have De-Populated the circuit board; removing the LM318 Op Amp, and
all its associated components. Now I will continue the project, driving the PA
with the output from the NE602 mixer which is in the Millivolt range.
I'm hoping that the Sine wave output will drive the switching type amp. If not;
I'll add a " Squarer/Buffer " circuit. I don't plan to use any Linear modes, so
this should work OK.
