Charlie:

I didn't see the e-probe antenna. Can you tell me where to find it? I did
a search and found an article in Sept, 2001 called The AMRAD Active LF
Antenna. Is this any good. I was thinking of building it. Maybe your
e-probe job is better. Andy, KU4XR has been giving me some tips too.

I tuned my reciever down to the LF range using just a long wire. the noise
is terrible. It would be hard to hear much this way. I even need to use
the noise blanker as pulse noise is terrible too. This long wire is just my
80/40 meter antenna with the coax ground taken off the radio. I am sure it
is not tuned and I'm picking up noise everywhere this way.

The AMRAD antenna looked good to me and I found FAR Circuits has the two
boards, the transformer is easily available (Power) and the CP 666
transistor is available fromCrystalonics for a little over $17.00.
Everything else is generic and all parts seem obtainable today. Right now I
don't want to take the time building a box loop. I'm building a house on
lake Livingston and until i move there a probe antenna would be easier for
me to handle right now.

Lee, w0vt
