I've got a "middle of the road" size junk box collection. Probably over 100
crystals including old FT-243s, CB crystals, crystals out of stuff that's
broke over the years, etc..
If I remember right, I had three or four that would divide into the right
range using "divide-by-2" multiples like you get out of the 4060. I did look
for crystals that were also 185.3 kHz apart and didn't find a single set of
them.
If it's got to be 185.3 kHz, then I think the simplest thing is to just order
on the of programmed oscillators and run with it (maybe with a divide by 10
or something after it). I also dug through a lot of surplus sites and parts
houses catalogs. I didn't find anything widely available that divided into
185.3 kHz or that had a difference of 185.3 kHz.

I'd agree. And I just don't see how to do simple unless the watering hole is
moved. Like I mentioned, I'll be using the DSS soon, so it's a moot point for
me. But I think getting to a frequency where you have a fair number of people
listening to you is important for anyone starting out and a "barrier to
entry" for anyone wanting to KISS.
If someone has an easy, off the shelf way (other than programmed oscillators)
to get to 185.3 kHz, I'd love to hear it--that would free up the DSS for
other projects.
