A few 2 cent comments;

If one plans to " move around " then DDS is most certainly
the way to go. I haven't seen this to be the objective in
1750 meter operation though.

For single frequency operation; the simplistic approach ::
for $ 7.00 ; get the Epson programmed for where-ever you
want to be. Then all you have is the Regulator for Voltage,
and the Epson going into a divider chip. Could it get any
simpler ??

If migration to the upper end of the 180 KHz region is
going to be contemplated. A number of Op's will need to do
" Many " overnight listening sessions centered at 187 KHz.
The OP's need to be scattered around the states, using a
3 KHz ( 2.4 KHz ) BW, in a SSB mode. Take captures during
the night when TV's , computers, and such are mostly off.
Examine those captures from a few days of monitoring and
see where you get the most interference from a frequency
standpoint. If a consensus of OP's scattered across the
greatest geographical area can say that ???.??? KHz is
usually interference free; an upper band " Watering Hole "
frequency could be chosen from the data collected.

Maybe that's 4 cents worth; hi-hi:  73 all :::
