There is one magazine I have seen on the racks at Hasting's maybe it is
Monitoring Times or something like that for swl and scanner addicts.
True about appliance ops. My county has something like 2000 hams ,
havent checked state numbers in a while. We have, although inactive, an
ATV repeater. Most we had on the air was 7 stations and only one ham
bothered to hook his cable ready tv to a 440 ant and see the signal.
I've had a lot of inquires about the lowfer beacon, so far only two in
the state have bothered to copy it.
The rule of thumb for construction articles is that about 100 units
will be built for each construction article. The exception being some
very popular articles like the "Neophyte reciever". If nation wide we
could pick up 100 people interested in LF I think that would be a real
boom. Only way to accomplish that kind of growth is by an article in
QST or CQ.
I still believe part 15 would be a fun local medium for cw and psk. But
doing it by oneself is like trying to clap with one hand. I also think
an increase in part 15 activity would boost our chances of getting
alocations on 137.
