It was another cold, relatively quiet night (in terms of the lightning
map) in NE IL. Noticed XGR on 137.78 kHz strong into the F1AFJ grabber
well before local sunset (2314Z). First signal traces were seen here
around 2230Z and by 2330Z copy was excellent. WD2XSH/37 was transmitting
WSPR through 0106Z on 503.91 kHz and coming through well too, but only a
single decode was made here as the timing was nearly 5 seconds slow and
it took trial-and-error to match our clock. WEB was good copy on
189949.9 kHz QRSS-60 by 0030Z and didn't fade out until 1145Z (local
sunrise was 1204Z). Spent most of the night tuned to the watering hole
at 185.3 kHz using QRSS-60 with the antenna aimed at XR. It was in and
out of the noise by 0400Z and stayed that way through 0900Z. Not nearly
the nice copy that Jay and John got the night before, but definitely in
there on 185.2988 kHz. No sunrise enhancement was noted here.
