   Agreed, a more useful comparison would be to low freq NDBs
190-300kHz which often run 25W carrier out into a short top loaded
vertical.
The FAA typically expects only a 25 mile radius, but that is also due
to the use of MCW and wide bandwidth AM receivers with NDBs.
