Hi Andy,

I think it may have been the time when I was running 700 milliwatt
output on one of the TX loops. It definitely wasn't a vertical antenna.
However, I was running 3w output for a time with my Part 5 license. Not
really a huge difference from .7w to 3w. The station listening at 162
miles was using a Kenwood HF rig connected to a Hygain Hy-tower with no
special tuning being used and only listening with the speaker. He did
that several times so I know it wouldn't be likely the same band
conditions repeated day & night over the period. But...who knows. I have
plans of returning to 1750m but it wont be QRP this time around, & it
will be using a smaller TX loop as I have other antennas taking up the
space my two TX loops once did. A vertical is out of the question with
my trees. I tested a good vertical against both TX loops and it had to
be well below 32F for the vertical to over-come the tree loss. The loops
made the vertical look like a good dummy load above 32F.
