Hi all:
After a delicious dinner with the family today, I did a little
more work on the ground radial system. It's been over 12 years
since I did any soldering on heavy wire to ground rods, but I
managed to get the radials soldered to the ground rod. It's
about the ugliest solder joint I've ever seen, but it's
stronger than the wires themselves. I also ran a bare copper
wire around the perimeter of the radial system, connected to
the far end of each radial. The changes noted are small.
The needed Inductance for peak output ( Max - RF Current ),
went up very slightly. Last measured at 2.20 Milli-Henries,
Measured today at 2.22 Milli-Hemries. The ground is still
pretty wet from the last rain, and dosen't dry quite as fast
as during the summer of course.
On to the RF Current; before todays work; the transmitter
would peak out at 180 Milli-Amps for 1 Watt input, after the
soldering, and perimeter wire, now the transmitter peaks at
185 Milli-amps of RF Current with 1 Watt input.
I hope everyone has a great day; 73 from " XR " Friendsville, TN.
