Hi all:
Observations here after installing the #14 insulated copper wire
radial system. As I had hoped it would do during rain, the new
setup has done. Much lower loss when the ground is wet than with
the bare aluminum wires on the ground. One section of top-hat
rope broke last night, and after putting it back up, I re-tuned
and the reduction in RF current amounted to 12 mAmps instead of
20 mA as posted earlier. and the system is recovering much faster
after the rain has stopped than before. with the bare aluminum,
the loss would be from 60 to 80 mAmps, and could take 2 or 3 days
to recover from the wet ground. I am hoping that the information
I am sharing will be helpful to someone, and possibly to anyone
who is thinking about putting a beacon on LF.
