Hi all:

Beautiful WX today, so I spent the day outside cutting to length,
stripping, and laying 12 new #14 insulated soild copper radials.
Each are 33'- 4" in length. They're just stretched out on top of
the ground and tacked down only at the ends. Hopefully the dogs
won't get into them overnight and rip them loose. I really still
have quite a bit of work left to finish the job, but can only do
so much at a time. I still have to get a torch and solder the
radials to the GND rod, connect, and solder the bare copper
perimeter wire around the ends of the radial system. And thinking
strongly about driving in a couple more GND rods at the far ends
of the radials, and connecting them also.

Inside results; immediately noticed 5 more mAmps of RF on the
meter at peak, ( now 180 mA ), a generous reduction in the
vari-coil inductance. Was 2.36 Milli-Henries, now it's 2.20 mH,
I also use the signal meter on my TS450S as a general reference
and it is 1 S-unit higher ( no antenna attached ).

Overall, more RF output, less inductance for resonance, and a
stronger " Near - Field " signal. A decent accomplishment for
a few hours of nice outdoors work.

I'll now un-wind some turns on the vari-coil until I have to
turn it almost to the Max position. This will reduce the coil
resistance a little, which will also be another improvement in
itself.

I'm excited to see how it shows up now in the " Ether test ".
Any reports ( and captures !!! ) will be greatly appreciated.

73 everyone, and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
