[Lowfer] SPECTRAN PROBLEM

I have a new HP dc7700 PC with "on board" sound card. Spectran and
Multipsk work fine with it. However, the machine doesn't have a game
port and when I installed another sound card with game port I ran into
this problem:

Sound card and game port work fine but when I tried to run Spectran
or Multipsk [I had forgotten about selecting the sound card] I got the
familiar BSOD with a message about hardware failure and "program
halted". Can't get out of that state without restarting the computer.
I removed the new sound card and all is well again.

    Question:

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I am hoping that if
I reinstall that card and use the Spectran "select sound card" function
all will work again but because of the inconvenience of putting the new
card in and out [my own fault with the way the PC is hidden under the
desk] I had to repeat the old frustrating experience a second time.

Any comments welcome,

Ed
